STRETCH
(Student Resource
and Extension Centre)
Our Student Resource and Extension Centre aims to best meet the
needs of individual students experiencing difficulties academically
or who might require particular opportunities for extension.
Scotch Oakburn College is considered to be a leader in this field.
The emphasis is on providing assistance particularly in literacy and
numeracy, both in the Junior School and the Senior School, but
assistance will also be provided where necessary for students in
other core learning areas.
More gifted students will be guided
into state and national projects, events and competitions.
Opportunities for Scotch Oakburn College students to attend state
gifted and talented camps are made regularly.
The Director of the STRETCH programme across both Junior and Senior
campuses, together with the specialist staff in this department,
will work closely with other teaching staff and parents to develop
the best possible learning programmes for these students.
These specialist staff members will work with students in small
groups or individually on a withdrawal basis where necessary in
addition to providing assistance to other teaching staff on how best
to meet individual learning needs.
Team teaching is often provided within normal classroom settings to
assist where appropriate.
Parent training programmes are often provided so they understand to
help their children with reading and spelling, in particular. |
