Two art facilities open on
14 July, 2005
Two spacious, state-of the-art, visual art
facilities, one located on Scotch Oakburn’s Elphin Campus, the other
on the Penquite Campus, were opened consecutively on Thursday, 14
July, by the Chairman of the Tasmanian Arts Advisory Board, Scott
Dawkins.
The two innovative art facilities are part of
a major upgrading programme for visual and performing arts
undertaken by Scotch Oakburn over the past two years. The art
facility on the Penquite Campus, for Middle School and Senior School
students, was made possible with the assistance of a grant from the
Federal Government.
Each of the two art facilities is
purpose-built and designed to provide students and teachers with a
modern, relaxing, yet highly-functional, visual art environment.
The facilities have been designed to cater for
a wide array of different artistic fields and have been
well-equipped with appropriate technology.
The Principal of Scotch Oakburn College,
Andrew Barr, is pleased with the tremendous opportunities provided
for all Scotch Oakburn students through the creation of these new
art facilities.
“The two facilities have been designed and
refurbished by teachers and works staff collaborating to produce an
outstanding outcome for the benefit of all our students. I am
particularly grateful to the two senior Art staff members, Melissa
Smith and Suzanne Creese, and our works manager, Mike Widdowson”,
said Mr Barr.
