bursaries-2016

Global Studies Bursaries

Following on from our growing relationship with China and the recent successful visit by staff and students from the Beijing Jingshan School, Scotch Oakburn College is delighted to offer a limited number of Global Studies Bursaries for those students entering Years 4 to 8.

The Global Studies Bursaries are designed to provide students from within Tasmania, not currently at the College, the chance to build their understanding of the world, pursue language studies and to bring their diversity and skills (academic, cultural or sporting) to our international programs both here and abroad, including our Round Square opportunities.

The teaching of Chinese, Japanese and French at Scotch Oakburn not only includes learning of the language, but also explores the people and the culture of each country. An interest in pursuing a language is considered an advantage. These means-tested bursaries provide for up to a 50 per cent reduction of tuition fees for at least four years.

Collegian Bursaries

These bursaries are awarded to the child (or grandchild) of a past scholar of either the present or founding schools, Scotch College and MLC/Oakburn College who may not otherwise be able to attend or continue in attendance at the school for financial reasons and who has the ability and inclination to be part of our active College community.

The Bursary is for up to 50% of the tuition fees (or 25% tuition and 25% boarding fees if the student is to be a boarder). The Bursary may be awarded to a child at any stage of his/her secondary school education.
