Congratulations to Emily Foster (Year 12) on her completion of the Gold Level of the Duke of Edinburgh Award.

Emily contributed 51 hours to the improvement of her skills, 51 hours to the improvement of her sense of giving toward others without expecting anything in return, and 51 hours toward physical recreation.

On top of this, Emily undertook a Residential Program in her own time, aimed at developing leadership skills, with other youth from around the world. Her goal for this was to develop personal character and a stronger sense of value, identity and purpose.

Emily also completed an Adventurous Journey in which she hiked and explored the Walls of Jerusalem. Her main goal for this expedition was to not only test skills learnt in the classroom but to also practice skills such as communication, navigation, planning and problem solving, resilience and ultimately leadership skills.

We congratulate Emily on her wonderful effort and dedication to this award. Emily and her family have been invited to Government House in November where she will be presented with her Gold Award from Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Kate Warner, AC, Governor of Tasmania.

Congratulations again Emily on your wonderful effort.
