As the year draws to a close for many, it is at this time of year that the Performing Arts Department kicks into full gear across the whole of the College. With planning for next year well underway, I am excited to announce next year’s College Productions.

Following on from the success of the Jungle Book in 2022, Year 5 students will be returning to the Horton Auditorium at the end of Term 2 to perform Disney’s The Lion King Kids. The African savannah will come to life on the Horton stage with Simba, Rafiki and an unforgettable cast of characters as they journey from Pride Rock to the jungle… and back again, in this inspiring, coming-of-age tale.

In Term 3 of 2023, Middle and Senior School students will return to the Princess Theatre to perform Seussical: the Musical. It is a fantastical, magical, musical extravaganza and is one of the most performed shows worldwide! All of your favourite Dr Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, lazy Mayzie and a child with a big imagination – Jojo. The colourful characters transport us from the Jungle of Nool to the Circus McGurkus to the invisible world of the Whos. We are thrilled to announce that Renee Bakker has joined the production team as Director. Renee brings a wealth of experience with her and I can’t wait to see the cast grow under her direction.

This is an exciting time to be a part of the Performing Arts Department. As always there will be multiple opportunities to be a part of the productions, be it on or off stage. Please look out for further details with regards to auditions in early Term 1, 2023 for both productions.
