From 5-12 April, students from the College competed at the Australian Age Swimming Championships on the Gold Coast.
Being an outdoor facility the swimmers were at the mercy of the weather. The first few days of competition saw cold conditions, blustery winds and torrential rain making it especially hard for swimmers who are used to indoor pools.
The following students competed:
Taylor Brock (Year 8): Girls 13 – 50m, 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m Freestyle, 200m Backstroke, 200m and 400m Individual Medley
Emily Mitchell (Year 10): Girls 15 – 100m, 200m Backstroke
Isabella Muldoon (Year 8): Girls 13 – 50m, 100m Freestyle
Xavier Nesbit (Year 9): Boys 15 – 200m Breaststroke, Boys 14-15 4x50m Medley Relay, Mixed 13-17 4x50m Medley Relay
Charlotte Pilsbury-Milne (Year 10): Mixed 13-17 4x50m Medley Relay
Emily Mitchell also competed at the Australia Swimming Championships the following week. This is quite different to the Age Championships because it is open to all swimmers regardless of age. Emily was competing against swimmers who we’ll soon be watching at the Olympics. This is a significant achievement.
We congratulate all swimmers.
