FROM THE CHAPLAIN
This week saw our final House Chapels for 2022 which incorporated our liturgical farewell to our Year 12 students.
This year, we started in the chapel and then proceeded out to the Peace & Unity Garden where the Year 12’s were individually blessed with their own “I am Blessed” affirmations that they can carry with them and pronounce over their lives, every day on the journey into their future.
Our Year 9 Bagpiper, Violet Haysom has been a consistent participant in the services, for which we thank her. Every day, she led the procession of Year 12 students into the Chapel, out of the chapel and into the Peace and Unity Garden and then led them back to their home in the Robert Dean Building with their House Head behind.
The feedback from staff and students is that they have been wonderful services encouraging the students with peace and love for their future journeys.
The final gift was a blessing of frankincense oil to affirm them, in its original Hebrew meaning, that they would never be alone, that even though they are leaving, they are still part of our community Collegians. They will be missed, yes, for some of them have been here and contributed to our community and beyond, for 15 years, and now they move on for that which they have been prepared.
May they all now be contributors for themselves and others to experience a good and fulfilling life.
New Addition to Chapel Offerings – Exam Prayer
Over the next month, all of our Year 10s, 11s and 12s will be sitting their final exams, some for the year, others for their whole school life.
These exams are important for them and in respect for those sitting them, the chapel will be open from 7:30 am to 8:00 am every weekday of the exam periods, so those who want to come, can sit and pray for the students involved and for their parents and boarding house colleagues who will be supporting them along the way.
In addition, may they all be blessed during study times with focus, concentration and understanding so that they reach their goal for what they want and need for their future.
Have a great week everyone,
Rev Grace
