Storytelling Workshop
This week, interested Year 4 students joined live with the Sydney Opera House for an engaging new storytelling workshop that began with a scavenger hunt. We printed images of objects (something round, something you love, something to play with..) to inspire a fun and unique story. Our presenter worked hard to combine our ideas to create an original story using our chosen stimulus – he demonstrated how to take an idea, flip it around, turn it inside out to think ‘What if?’, and ‘What might happen next?’. We explored the structure of a narrative – Orientation, Complication and Resolution while encouraging the development of an imaginative story inspired by the students. Guinea pigs in South Africa, a chicken hunt and Rodger the best friend giraffe were all part of our hilarious creation. Lots of fun as we developed our speaking, listening and storytelling oral skills.
