Learning Glimpses

This week Kindness Ninjas from Early Learning Green delivered their glass hearts made in Science Week to people around the campus who have helped them this Term (check out their Class Dash page!).

Early Learning Boatwright had a full day visit from 16 young chickens and all Early Learning Erina students were excited to have their Father or Grandfather or Special Friend visit their classroom to read a book with them. Budding authors in Year 1 Bunker have been immersed in writing, editing and publishing books and the Mad Hatters from all Year 1 classes had a celebratory picnic after their ‘Once Upon a Time’ reading and writing focus of recent weeks. Year 1 Blair students shared their recent learning highlights in LIVE@Elphin on Wednesday and then Year 5 Robinson focused on ‘Kindness and ‘Courage’ as they led LIVE@Elphin on Thursday. Prep Bush Learning on Monday, Jungle Book: Kids rehearsals, public speaking mentoring sessions and basketball practices were other activities engaging many students.

These glimpses are just the tip of a plethora of engrossing learning prompts and experiences for whole class groups, smaller groups, individual students and teams right across the Campus this week.

Visual Art

Congratulations to Year 3 Gillett students Luka U’Ren, Zeke Yang-Sun, Jessica Lowe, Maia Barritt and Thomas Mau on the selection of their art pieces for the upcoming ArtStart exhibition at the QVMAG (Wellington St). The exhibition of Primary Schools student art pieces links to the 2022 NAIDOC Week theme, Get Up, Stand Up, Show Up and opens on Wednesday September 14.

The Junior School Art program, led by Mrs Suzanne Creese and supported by Mrs Cath Kilner, has also recently seen some outstanding Still Life pieces created by Year 5 students. Visitors to the Junior School Office will have seen some of these displayed there and a larger display will be in the SPACE Gallery at the Performing Arts Centre during the week of the Junior School Production, Jungle Book: Kids.

Student art work is regularly displayed in all Junior School classrooms and parents and families visiting classrooms are invited to view this work whenever they have an opportunity to visit their child’s learning space.

Thank you to all fathers, grandfathers and special friends who were able to attend this week’s Fathers’ Day Breakfast at the Elphin Campus. Thank you to all staff and parents who assisted with the organisation and running of this event.

Best wishes to all fathers for Sunday.
