Year 8 Student Reinard Fourie writes to the International Criminal Court

Reinard, like all of us, is affected by the footage seen of the Ukraine invasion by Russian president Vladimir Putin, so he decided to write to the Interntional Criminal Court, seeking their involvement in prosecuting Putin for his actions. Much to his surprise, Reinard received a reply, acknowledging his plea and will give his request due consideration.

Reinard has started a Go Fund Me appeal to encourage Tasmanians to donate to humanitarian aid efforts in Ukraine. Reinard wants to focus on helping children as he can’t imagine what they are going through. Great initiative Reinard!

Team Success at NIJSSA Swimming 2022

On Thursday 10 March, Years 3-6 students enjoyed the combined Northern Schools Swimming Carnival at Riverside Pool.  Our students enjoyed the spirit of the carnival with the team composite relay a feature, setting a new record!  Thank you to team managers and swimming coaches for their support and encouragement of our students.

Our team won the day and I congratulate all swimmers on a wonderful effort.

Year 6 Japanese

Last week on Thursday 3 March marked the end to the Japanese festival of Hinamatsuri (Doll’s festival).  During Hinamatsuri the Japanese pray for the health and happiness of their daughters and display dolls to ward off bad spirits.  After learning more about this festival our Year 6 Japanese classes had a go at making some origami dolls of their own for display.
