FROM THE MIDDLE SCHOOL
29 July, 2022
Welcome back to all Middle School families, what an exciting term of learning ahead, with Year 6 exploring ‘Civics and Citizenship’, Year 7 ‘Water in our World’ and Year 8 conquering their ‘EY8 Projects’. Throughout these learning investigations, students will continue to explore our learner attributes and also gain a greater understanding of the world around them.
During this week, a focus has been on celebrating servant leaders and our volunteers in our community. During the recent term break, servant leadership was evident in the broader community with the active continuation by many current Year 8 students with their EY8 Projects. These projects have been designed and negotiated throughout Term 2, and now the students and their mentors can enjoy the rewards of this in the implementation phase during Term 3. Developing this sense of commitment, service and collaboration are important life-long qualities for all of our future leaders.
Year 8 Education Outdoors
Best wishes to our Year 8 W students, preparing for the weeklong Odyssey program at the Valley Campus. A chance to reflect, refocus and renew personal goals while being challenged in the outdoors.
Community Learning – Key Moments this Term
Later this term, Year 7 students will be immersed in a week of field-based inquiries within the SOC2City 2022 program. The combination of connecting with two key themes, ‘Water in our World’ and investigating the ‘Liveability of Launceston’, will be key concepts of the Week 8 program, commencing Monday 12 September – concluding on Friday 16 September.
The EY8 Presentation Evening will be held in Week 10, on Wednesday 28 September in the Middle School. It will be wonderful to celebrate the awareness-raising efforts and community spirit generated by our servant leaders.
