Valley Life in Flood
Images from our Education Outdoors teacher, Mr Steve Jacobs, highlighted the power of our weather patterns this week. Year 8 students had a unique experience this week, seeing the power of the South Esk river flow past their cabins at the Valley campus.

Senator visit to Middle School
This week we welcomed Senator the Hon Simon Birmingham to the Middle School. Senator Birmingham asked to visit to learn more about our Year 7 World Peace Game. He spoke to some Year 7 students about their experiences in the game and what they learned from the game.
According to the World Peace Game Foundation (2018), the game is a hands-on, geo-political simulation that gives students the opportunity to explore the connectedness of the global community through economic, social, and environmental crises and the imminent threat of war. The aim of the game is to extricate each country from dangerous circumstances and achieve global prosperity with the least amount of military intervention. There are 23 interlocked, real-world crises that require students’ attention to not only achieve world peace, but at the same time, increase each country’s starting budget. Only then can the participants declare the Game won. Acting as “nation councils,” students gain a greater understanding of the critical impact of information, how it is used, and most importantly, how their decisions impact others within our global community. “The end result of the World Peace Game should be compassion”, states John Hunter, the founder and creator of the World Peace Game.
It was great to welcome the Senator to the College and we hope he enjoyed his visit.
