Transitions in the weeks ahead!

Welcome to an exciting term of learning, community connection and celebration of many outstanding Middle School achievements in 2022!  Looking ahead to the action-packed calendar of events, Term 4 presents many opportunities for gratitude, reflection and transition.  In the coming week, we are looking forward to welcoming all new 2023 families into the Middle School with an afternoon tea and activities on the Middle School Green on Wednesday.  Further community connections will be evident on Friday with the Year 7 Grandparents’ and Friends’ Day, a special chance for Year 7 students to host their grandparents and/or special family friend in their learning community, we are all looking forward to this occasion.

During many of my ‘learning walks’ this week, I have been so impressed with the collaborative learning skills and creativity of our Middle School.  Highlights included the Year 6 Inquiry into ‘developing a sustainable theme park’  and also the SOC2City presentations in many Year 7 Humanities learning spaces.  These learning examples highlighted research skills, dynamic communication mediums and teamwork.  Both inquiries connect strongly to our local community as they enable this thinking to be presented to future local community leaders; lifelong learning in action!

Global citizenship is alive in the Middle School, one element of this week has been welcoming 10 Year 8 exchange students, representing Ivanhoe Grammar (VIC), Radford College (ACT) and Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School (WA).  These exchange students are currently being hosted for two weeks by Year 8 families, with reciprocal exchanges being held in coming weeks for many of our Year 8 students.  The value of being a Round Square School is immeasurable when we see this learning in action.

#beyou!
