The Frank MacDonald Memorial Prize winners have been announced and we congratulate Harry Lillywhite for being named among the winners. The prize is named in honour of Tasmania’s last surviving World War 1 veteran and is open to all Year 9 students in Tasmania. It is an essay-based competition to help promote and preserve the meaning of the ANZAC spirit in the Tasmanian community.

Reserve Bank of Australia Work Experience Program
Each year, the Reserve Bank of Australia’s Head Office in Sydney offers Year 10 students from around Australia, the opportunity to participate in a week of work experience. The week aims to provide students with an insight into the roles and functions of the Reserve Bank, while learning how to interpret economic graphs, as well as participating in other core activities of an economist.
This year, Year 10 student Rory Dick has been successful in gaining a place in the program. Rory is the only student from outside of NSW participating in the program this year.
Rory has provided an insight into his week below:
“For the week I’m in the international department. Monday in foreign exchange, Tuesday and Thursday in emerging markets, and then Wednesday, advanced markets. On Monday and Friday, I’m in the dealing room, focusing on the Aussie dollar and commodities. I’m also working on a short graph presentation over the week about a graph relating to my department. It is an incredible experience!”
