As we approach the end of the academic year, it is the perfect time to reflect on the year that has been; the growth of our students both personally and in their learning, and the many activities they have been involved in, and excelled at, that has made this year special for each and every one of them. It is the combined engagement and involvement in the classroom and beyond, that collectively develops the dynamic and vibrant learning community that we enjoy at Scotch Oakburn. For that, I thank all students, staff, parents and supporters of the College for your attitude and efforts throughout the year.

Over this week, a number of wonderful events have been held that signal the end of the school year as well as celebrating the learning of the students throughout 2022. We started with the Prep and Year 1 Learning Celebrations, followed by the Junior School Carol Service Thursday night. Final Assemblies and Graduations were held for our Year 5 and 8 students as they prepare to transition to the Middle and Senior School respectively. Next week we complete the year’s farewells and recognise student achievement at Celebration on Tuesday evening. The events over this week and a half have, and will, celebrate what has been a fantastic year for Scotch Oakburn College.

This being the final News for 2022, and for those who cannot make it to Celebration next Tuesday, I trust you will all have a safe and relaxing summer holiday break and enjoy time with family and friends. As I said at the Elphin Christmas Carol Service, “If the very least that Christmas accomplishes is to bring families and friends together, to share a meal, laugh and enjoy the company of those we love and hold dear, then it is a wonderful time of the year.” Merry Christmas.
