On Monday 30 November and Tuesday 1 December, 24 students from across the Junior, Middle and Senior Schools participated in the National Chess Finals. Seven games were played across the two days, using the online format that has been the hallmark of Chess in 2020.

The Scotch Oakburn College teams had a successful competition, with the Primary Team achieving 24th place, the Middle Years Team coming in 11th, and the Senior Secondary Team earning a very impressive 6th placing. Shiv Kataria, Quinn Elliott and Navida Mapitigamaarachchi were the top scorers in their respective divisions.

Congratulations go to all players who have played with skill and commitment throughout the year. The National Finals also saw the last games played by Siddhant Kohli (Chess Captain, Year 12) and David Elijah (Year 12) and we thank both students for their contribution to Chess over the years and, in particular, for their leadership.
