Scotch Oakburn College was represented at the 2022 Remembrance Day Civic Service by student leaders from Years 8, 9 and 10, held at the Launceston Cenotaph. Our students joined the rest of the world in honouring those who served and sacrificed. Throughout the Commonwealth and beyond, those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom were honoured. Originally announced to mark the anniversary of the Armistice that ended fighting with Germany in World War I, Remembrance Day today gives us all the opportunity to acknowledge the service personnel who died while serving in all wars, conflicts, and peacekeeping operations.

Students heard from new Launceston Mayor Danny Gibson and special guest speaker, The Honourable Michelle O’Byrne MP. Students took part in the Remembrance Ceremony and laid a wreath on behalf of the Scotch Oakburn community.

Well done to Charlotte Ball, Stephanie Dunphy, Bella Padman, Mackenzie Buck, Shinu Bindal, William Nicholls, Abhinav Sundaram, Bella Shaw and Claudia Beaumont for your role in representing the College today.

Lest we forget.
