WHAT IS THE CIRCLE OF SECURITY PROGRAM?

At times, all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you.

The internationally acclaimed Circle of Security® Parenting™ is a relationship based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children. This intervention program was founded by Glen Cooper, Kent Hoffman, and Bert Powell, three psychotherapists from the United States. This program reflects over 50 years of research on the long-term impact of the parent/child relationship in the early years and attachment theory.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs
  • Support your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions
  • Enhance the development of your child’s self esteem
  • Honour your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure

HOW CAN THIS COURSE HELP?

Parents will learn how to recognise their child’s emotional needs and respond to their behaviours in ways that promote greater resilience, fewer behavioural difficulties, better relationships with peers and family, improved self-esteem, better regulation of emotions and enhanced school readiness.

HOW LONG IS THE COURSE?

The Circle of Security Parenting Program is a short course run over a series of eight consecutive weeks between 9:00am and 10.30am commencing from Thursday 17 March 2022 then every Thursday for the following seven weeks. Given the nature of the program, sessions are designed to be therapeutic with groups of up to 12, giving everyone a voice. If demand arises, subsequent, sessions may be made available.
