It doesn’t have to be this way. \nIn this engaging\, interactive\, and impactful session\, Daniel will unpack the 5 MONKEYS inhibiting student potential shaping poor mental health in young people\, drawing upon research and his experiences working with thousands of students internationally. Daniel will empower parents with PRACTICAL STRATEGIES to equip their children with the skills\, mindsets\, and “muscle” to get the monkeys off their back\, maximise their potential and thrive in school and in life. \n\nAbout Daniel Merza\n\nDaniel is an accredited Certified Speaking Professional (CSP)\, an international designation that recognises the experience and professional capability of Australia’s leading speakers. \nDaniel is also an accredited Mental Health First Aid Trainer\, a role he is deeply passionate about. \n\n\nThrough his captivating presentations\, empowering writings\, and influential social media initiatives\, he is dedicated to guiding and inspiring others to break free from self-doubt\, overcome obstacles\, and unleash their true potential. With each encounter\, Daniel strives to help people ‘Get the monkeys off your back\,’ empowering them to live a life of purpose\, resilience\, and limitless possibilities. \nHaving worn the “underdog” cap growing up\, Daniel’s story can be summed up in three words – “Defying the odds”. \nBullied for a decade\, diagnosed with a mental illness aged 13\, and labelled as a student with “no hope”\, Daniel faced up to his tormentors at 16 and turned his life around. \n\nJoin Daniel for an engaging session.

SUMMARY:Book Launch - A Very Special Trade by Cassandra Pybus
DESCRIPTION:Join Petrarch’s Bookshop at Scotch Oakburn College – Penquite Campus for the launch of A Very Secret Trade by Cassandra Pybus in-conversation with Dr Nick Clements (co-author of Tongerlongeter and author of The Black War).\n\nIn the nineteenth century\, collectors and museum curators in Europe were fascinated by the antipodean colony of Tasmania. But they were not just interested in animals and plants. The belief that the original people of the colony were an utterly unique race and facing possible extinction had the European scientific community scrambling for human exhibits.\n\nWorse still\, the men responsible for the care and protection of the few original people who had survived the ravages of disease and the infamous Black Wars were prominent in the trade. Cassandra Pybus has uncovered one of the darkest and most carefully hidden secrets in Australia’s colonial history. It is time we all knew the truth.\n\nTicket provides general admission to the talk. Book sales available at the event.\n\nBook Now\n

DESCRIPTION:Friendology Curriculum is part of the URStrong framework and is a resource we use at Elphin to provide our students with the skills\, language and self-confidence to be better friends and develop positive relationships. Having a consistent language between home and school is important to help strengthen connections and open up lines of communication. This introductory parent session will outline the key concepts of the program\, including ‘friendship fires’\, the Friend-o-meter\, the Friend-o-cycle and how we manage ‘mean on purpose’ behaviours which all aim to build healthy relationships and manage conflict in respectful ways. \nPresented by Renee Hodgetts\, Director Wellbeing – Elphin (accredited Friendology educator)\, these sessions are suitable for parents/carers of Early Learning student to Year 5. \nFor more information on regarding the Friendology program https://urstrong.com/parents/\, or contact Renee on 6336 3377 or renee.hodgetts@soc.tas.edu.au \nBook here
