SUMMARY:Circle of Security Parenting Program
DESCRIPTION:8 WEEK PROGRAM – EVERY FRIDAY \n  \n\n\n \nGOAL: Community Education and Support  \nScotch Oakburn College is committed to growing community support and engagement through information sharing on specific matter relevant to them\, our students\, and the greater community. To ensure an inter-connectedness and support for each other\, the College will embark on a community education and support program that will extend opportunities for the community to learn and grow.  Opportunities are aligned to the College’s Mission\, Vision and Values. \nThis program also encapsulates the Learning and Wellbeing Strands of SOC2035   \n\n\n\n\nWHAT IS THE CIRCLE OF SECURITY PROGRAM?\n\n  \nAt times\, all parents feel lost or without a clue about what our child might need from us. Imagine what it might feel like if you were able to make sense of what your child was really asking from you. \nThe internationally acclaimed Circle of Security® Parenting™ is a relationship based early intervention program designed to enhance attachment security between parents and children. This intervention program was founded by Glen Cooper\, Kent Hoffman\, and Bert Powell\, three psychotherapists from the United States. This program reflects over 50 years of research on the long-term impact of the parent/child relationship in the early years and attachment theory. \nLearning Objectives: \n\nUnderstand your child’s emotional world by learning to read the emotional needs\nSupport your child’s ability to successfully manage emotions\nEnhance the development of your child’s self esteem\nHonour your innate wisdom and desire for your child to be secure\n\n\nHOW CAN THIS COURSE HELP?\nParents will learn how to recognise their child’s emotional needs and respond to their behaviours in ways that promote greater resilience\, fewer behavioural difficulties\, better relationships with peers and family\, improved self-esteem\, better regulation of emotions and enhanced school readiness. \nHOW LONG IS THE COURSE?\nThe Circle of Security Parenting Program is a short course run over a series of eight consecutive weeks between 8:45am and 10am commencing from Friday 12 February then every Friday for the following seven weeks. Given the nature of the program\, sessions are designed to be therapeutic with groups of up to 10\, giving everyone a voice. If demand arises\, subsequent\, sessions may be made available between 12:30pm and 2:30pm. \nWHO SHOULD ATTEND?\nCircle of Security® Parenting™ has been developed for parents and carers of children aged between 0-5. Whether you are struggling with your parenting role or wanting tips on how to be the best parent you can be\, you will find this program to be invaluable. \nExisting Parents / Guardians of students attending Scotch Oakburn College are welcome to attend. You do not need to have a student in the junior or early years\, the opportunity is open to everyone. To ensure the sessions are highly beneficial\, parents / guardians are asked not to bring children. \nFACILITATORS\nCaroline Thain  \nCaroline is a registered mental health Occupational Therapist. She has experience working with young children\, adolescents\, and adults in a range of settings including private practice as an associate of the Launceston Therapy Clinic\, palliative care and community mental health services.  Caroline’s passion is for building emotional literacy and wellbeing in the broader community.  Caroline brings with her a wealth of experience\, warmth and expertise and we are thrilled to have the opportunity to collaborate with her.\n  \n  \nFranny Stewart  \nFranny is a registered Psychologist and School Counsellor at the Elphin Campus. SUMMARY:Senior Play - 'Away'
DESCRIPTION:We invite you to come along to this year’s Senior School Production Away. \nA magical play … set in the summer of 1967-68. It’s been named one of Australia’s Classic plays\, depicting life in Australia post World War 2 and in the midst of the Vietnam War. \nIt’s a tragically beautiful play with resonance on so many levels. Includes styles of realism\, comedy\, fantasy\, Shakespearean and a play-within-a-play. \nFun\, crazy and comedic but behind the veneer of holiday fanfare\, Gold Coast glitz\, and high school theatrics are three families that are scared\, angered\, and fracturing. \nPlease note: the topics and themes in this performance make it unsuitable for young children. We recommend Middle and Senior School students and above. \nDates: 4-6 September\nTime: 7.00pm\nLocation: Horton Auditorium\, Performing Arts Centre\nTickets: Adults $20  Student/Concession $15 \nBook now

SUMMARY:Play on!
DESCRIPTION:Performed by TCE Drama and Theatre Students\, Play On! is the story of a cash-strapped community theatre group rehearsing to perform an original murder mystery\, “Murder Most Foul” (after an Agatha Christie title and a line from “Hamlet”). The good news is the show is royalty-free\, since the author is local. The bad news is the author is local – available to do constant rewrites. Act I is a rehearsal of the dreadful show\, Act II is the near disastrous dress rehearsal\, and the final act is the actual performance in which anything that can go wrong does. When the author decides to give a speech on the state of the modern theatre during the curtain calls\, the audience is treated to a madcap climax to a thoroughly hilarious romp. \nDate: Monday 17 and Tuesday 18 June\nTime: 7.00pm\nCost $5 Adults\, $2 students.  Pay cash at the door (correct change appreciated)\nWhere: Horton Auditorium\nWhy: Because it is a hilariously funny play\, performed by talented SOC Students
