Interschool Chess Tournament

Chess competitions for 2022 kicked off this Tuesday 5 April, with the Tasmania (North) Interschool Tournament being held online. Our Middle and Senior School players competed against four other Launceston schools, with our Year 6 students coming 2nd among the primary schools and our secondary team scoring the top spot in the competition overall.

All students are to be commended on their efforts in the competition, and in particular their patience in the face of technical challenges and a delayed start to the games. Our top players deserve special mention, with Himash Keerthiratne, Harry Lillywhite, Hamish Knowles and Mitchell Fulton in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th place respectively.

I would also like to acknowledge Hamish Knowles, our 2022 Chess Captain, who so patiently assisted new and younger players with accessing the online format.

2022 National Netball Championships

Congratulations to Year 11 student Rubi Healey who has been named in the Tasmanian Under 17 team for the 2022 National Netball Championships, being held in Hobart this April.

Taking place from 19-24 April at the Hobart Netball and Sports Centre, the Championships will see 192 athletes compete in the milestone event following its cancellation in 2020 and 2021 due to the COVID-19.

We wish Rubi and the rest of the Tasmanian team every success in the competition.
