Welcome to 2021, and what I hope is a far simpler year than 2020. I also wish all our new families an especially warm welcome and look forward to meeting you soon. From all that I have seen and from what I have been told by students, parents and staff, it has been a wonderful start to the year.
The energy, enthusiasm and excitement that our students bring to the College certainly makes it feel like a school again and it was wonderful welcoming them into the campuses on Monday morning. Whether it be through our students’ natural curiosity for the world around them, their investigations of ‘Big Questions’ or new subjects and topics, our students’ learning journey has well and truly begun for 2021.
I would also like to recognise the wonderful support from all families, as we continue to navigate ever-changing COVID-19 Protocols. Like you all, I hope that these are a thing of the past in the near future. However, having visited my family in Melbourne over Christmas, seeing them in person for the first time in 12 months and experiencing the palpable sense of nervous tension in their communities, I am incredibly grateful to be living in Tasmania, where the effects of COVID-19 have been felt far less than elsewhere in our nation.
This evening, Friday 5 February, we have the New Parents’ Gathering with over 240 attendees, both parents and their child(ren). This reflects both the exciting growth in our College as well as the sense of community spirit and our parents’ willingness to be engaged and involved in the life of the College. Thanks also to all our Year Level Parent Representatives for your support in welcoming our new families and encouraging their involvement.
Once again, welcome and all the very best for the year ahead.
