TASMANIA’S BACKYARD

A truly tasmanian experience

Scotch Oakburn’s Education Outdoors program connects students to the Tasmanian landscape, and to themselves, through authentic, hands-on experiences in the wild. At Scotch Oakburn College, Education Outdoors is more than just time outside, it is an important part of how we help young people grow. What makes our program truly special is where it happens: in Tasmania’s remarkable and diverse natural environment.

From remote bushwalks to coastal journeys, students experience the kind of learning that can only happen when they are immersed in nature. They build resilience, teamwork, and leadership by stepping away from the familiar and into landscapes that challenge and inspire.

Our program is proudly Tasmanian. It is shaped by the places we go, the weather we prepare for, and the care we take to tread lightly. It is about learning by doing, growing through challenge, and understanding what it means to belong to a place as unique as this island.

Unleashing the Power of Nature to Build Resilient, Confident Students

Our Education Outdoors program inspires a lifelong connection to Tasmania’s unique environment, fostering resilience, leadership, and a passion for sustainability in students. Aligned with the College’s Values, it encourages students to step outside their comfort zones and develop essential life skills through nature-based learning.

A JOURNEY OF GROWTH: FROM EARLY LEARNING TO YEAR 12

Our award winning Education Outdoors program is an integral part of the Scotch Oakburn curriculum, providing transformative opportunities for all students, from Early Learning through to Year 12.
