The John Morris Centre combines those areas within the College that interact directly with Middle and Senior School students into a learning hub, providing a place where students can access a wide variety of resources that assist their learning on a daily basis.

The John Morris Centre is home to:

  • Penquite Campus library and information services
  • e-Services team (Information Technology)
  • Student reception for senior students and sick bay
  • Futures Centre
  • Wellbeing Coordinator/College Psychologist
  • Chaplain
  • Sports Administrator
  • Learning spaces and meeting areas

Library and Information Services

The Penquite library and information services is located within the John Morris Centre.  The services and programs provided play an important role in the development of students´ reading for understanding and their ability to research with integrity and discernment as inquiring and reflective thinkers.

Providing both print and online collections of educational resources, the collections are carefully selected to support all areas of the Scotch Oakburn College curriculum.

The structure is designed to enable students to undertake independent research and progressively allow them to take increased responsibility for their own learning.  Programs include specific instruction in library-use, academic integrity and general research skills.  Special subject-specific research sessions are also offered in the Senior School years.
