HEAD OF YEAR 9
Commencing in 2026 we are seeking an experienced and passionate Head of Year 9 to join our dynamic team. As the Head of Year 9, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the academic, social, and personal development of our Year 9 students. This is a tenured Higher Duties Position held in conjunction with a permanent teaching role.
What you’ll be doing
- Providing leadership, guidance, and support to Year 9 students, ensuring their overall well-being and academic success
- Designing and implementing engaging programs and activities to foster student engagement, positive behaviour, and a strong sense of community
- Collaborating with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders to develop and implement strategies to support individual student needs
- Monitoring student attendance, behaviour, and academic progress, and taking appropriate action to address any concerns
- Organising and leading year-level events, activities, and excursions
- Serving as a mentor and role model for students, promoting the school’s values and fostering a positive school culture
- Participating in the school’s broader leadership team and contributing to the development and implementation of school policies and initiatives
What we’re looking for
- Relevant teaching qualification and experience, with a strong background in secondary education
- Demonstrated leadership experience in a secondary school setting, with a proven track record of supporting student well-being and academic achievement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks effectively
- A deep understanding of the unique needs and challenges faced by Year 9 students, and a commitment to supporting their holistic development
- Demonstrated commitment to professional development and a passion for continuous learning
