Today, I had the immense pleasure of announcing, alongside Deputy Principal – Elphin, Ben Green, that our next major capital works project, named The Lachie Wright Centre, will commence construction in the very near future. This exciting development is set to address the current learning space challenges at the Elphin Campus, and most importantly, it will significantly enhance the learning experience for all students, particularly our Year 5 cohort.

The Lachie Wright Centre is more than just a building; it represents our commitment to providing a modern and conducive learning environment that caters to the diverse needs of our students. The new spaces will include state-of-the-art classrooms, collaborative areas, and technology-integrated learning hubs designed to foster creativity, critical thinking, and a love for learning. These facilities will enable our educators to provide students with enriched and engaging learning experiences.

The introduction of this new and specialised learning environment heralds a host of new opportunities. In preparation for the 2025 school year, the Junior School leadership team is thoughtfully considering the innovative learning experiences that will take place both inside and outside the classroom.

Our objective is to build on the strong educational foundation that already exists, ensuring our students are further supported in developing essential skills and attributes that will assist them as they transition into the Middle School.

This is an exciting time for the College, with ‘blue sky’ discussions taking place regarding future capital projects, student support programs, student engagement strategies, and co-curricular opportunities. We are exploring new ways to enhance our educational offerings and ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive. As these discussions progress, we will share further details with the wider community to keep everyone informed and up to date.

Scotch Oakburn College has a proud history of being a progressive and values-based institution, naturally positioning us as an educational leader within Australia. My hope is that we will continue to strengthen our reputation in educational circles by providing a holistic educational experience, which is more important now than ever before. This commitment to excellence ensures that our students are well-prepared for the future, equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values they need to succeed in a rapidly changing world.
