FROM VISION TO VIBRANCE

This Term, we proudly opened the doors to the Lachie Wright Centre, a space that now hums with the energy of our Year 5 learners. Their learning journey is already unfolding within its walls.
After eighteen months of planning and development, the Centre has moved from vision to reality. From the very first day, students and staff have embraced it with curiosity and a strong sense of ownership.
Designed in close partnership with those who would use it most, the Centre is helping to shape the way we learn, lead, and connect as a community. The Centre has quickly become an integral part of our Elphin Campus. Its open, light-filled spaces encourage movement between indoor and outdoor environments, sparking exploration and discovery.
This is a place that invites students to look beyond the classroom, to think creatively, and to engage in deep, purposeful learning. As our Year 5 students enter a pivotal stage in their educational journey, they are doing so in a setting that reflects the values we aim to cultivate: Respect, Courage, Commitment, Responsibility and Compassion.
Students have the room to grow into their leadership roles, to explore their identity, and to take ownership of their learning. It also provides opportunities for students to work independently, collaboratively and in a manner that will prepare them well for the new challenges and opportunities presented in the Middle School.
With its close proximity to Claremont Garden, sustainability is a key feature of the Centre and is part of its daily rhythm. With systems for rainwater collection, solar energy, composting, and recycling, students are actively engaging with environmental responsibility as part of their lived experience.
The Centre is named in honour of Lachie Wright, whose forty years of service to education continue to shape our culture and values. For many, he is remembered as a mentor, a colleague, and a friend. For our students, his name now represents care, commitment, and the kind of learning that lasts beyond the classroom.
