GIVING DAY

Scotch Oakburn College is excited, proud and enthusiastic to be continuing our Community Service Scholarship for another three years. On Thursday 5 September 2024, the College will host our second Giving Day focused on generating support to fully fund the Community Service Scholarship.

This scholarship is exclusively available to new students entering the College in Year 10, covering all expenses through their journey to the end of Year 12. The funds raised through our Giving Day will support an additional three years of Community Service Scholarship students.

We invite you to join us in transforming lives through education by participating in our second Giving Day.

With your help, we can reach our Giving Day goal of $350,000

For the 12-hour period, your tax-deductible* gift will be matched by our generous matched donors, thereby multiplying every dollar three times ($50 = $150, $100 = $300).

Visit our Giving Day platform now or on Thursday 5 September to support our Community Service Scholarship.

* In Australia, gifts over $2.00 are tax-deductible.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the aim of the Community Service Scholarship?

This fully funded scholarship aims to make our school more accessible to exceptional young individuals who might not have the financial means to enrol.

It is envisaged that our community will benefit through the diversity these young people bring, their willingness to engage in service and be involved in the life of the College.

We believe these scholarships willchange lives through education aswe'Create theFuture'.

How is the Community Service Scholarship connected to SOC2035?

A priority of the College's strategic vision, SOC2035, is to increase the College's contribution to the wider community, through service and giving.

The fully funded scholarship students to enrol at Scotch Oakburn to complete Years 10, 11 and 12. The 'Community Service Scholarship' is aimed to support those less fortunate and to clearly demonstrate that the College issupportive and inclusive, providing opportunities through the generosity of our existing community.

What are the details of the new scholarship?

  • The scholarship will enable students to attend Scotch Oakburn College, who otherwise would not be able to, for Year 10 and TCE years (Years 11 and 12), covering 100% of tuition costs.
  • It will be fully funded and include fees, levies, uniforms, devices and incidentals.
  • It may include boarding which will importantly create opportunities for students in regional communities.
  • The scholarship is open to new students only.
  • For entry into Year 10 in 2025. 2026 & 2027, staying with us until the end of Year 12.
  • The scholarships will be looking to support those students who have demonstrated significant contributions to their community through service and/or engagement programs.

How will applicants be 'assessed' outside of the financial limitation? How will the College find potential students?

A great and very important question. Tasmania is home to many incredible young people, and through partnerships with organisations such as JCP Youth, Rotary, Lions Clubs, Migrant Resource Centre and you, the broader community we will identify those who would thrive within our College community, enriching both their lives and ours.  Find out more about the Community Service Scholarship, including how to apply, here.

How will the College ensure the wellbeing of the students who join the College?

This is a key focus. The preparation of the scholarship recipients for their transition to Scotch Oakburn and then the on-going pastoral care they will receive is vital and something that we will be starting with the recipients well before they commence at the College. We will ensure we are setting these young people up for success.

How much does the College want to raise?

The College's goal is to raise a total of $300,000 through a Giving Day

$2000,000 will be raised viaMatchedDonors prior to the Giving Day and then on the day, a further $100,000 from ourbroadercommunity.

What is a Matched Donor?

A Matched Donor is a donor who has pledged to support our Giving Day prior to the event with a substantial donation. The Matched Donors' contribution will act as a catalyst to inspire other members of our community to give on the Giving Day.

These pre-determined gifts enable us to implement a multiplier effect on Thursday 5 September, our Giving Day, 'Triple the Difference'.

Every gift then received on or before the Giving Day will be multiplied three times! For example, a gift of $50 will become $150, a gift of $100 will become $300, a gift of $1000 will become $3000!
