If you are a frequent ABC radio listener in the mornings you may have heard Year 6 student Lucy Kershaw recently speaking about the recent Illuminate Community Challenge some of our Year 6 students took part in.
Illuminate Education are a Launceston based company who provide inquiry based, collaborative problem solving opportunities for students.
The focus for the illuminate Community Challenge was for students to reimagine Launceston in the future. Students worked in teams to Identify current issues in the Launceston community, then engage in a design process to develop a solution for the issue.
Our two six-person Year 6 teams tackled issues related to the environment and AI. Their solutions focussed on cleaning up plastic waste in the Tamar and engaging positively with AI as a tool to support workplaces rather than using it to replace jobs.
