Congratulations to the Class of 2024 on completing an exceptional year across all aspects of life at Scotch Oakburn College.

The determination, commitment, and enthusiasm shown by this cohort in engaging with the broader life of the College have been truly inspiring for younger students, setting a benchmark for them to emulate. Throughout their time at Scotch Oakburn, the Class of 2024 has embodied compassion, respect, and responsibility toward their peers and demonstrated immense pride when representing the College. By doing so, they have upheld and strengthened the school spirit that defines Scotch Oakburn College.

In 2024, we have witnessed their vibrant contributions to all areas of College life—fostering a strong sense of belonging and a friendly rivalry in House competitions, displaying sportspersonship and camaraderie on the sporting field, delivering excellence across the performing arts, and achieving outstanding academic success.

While the ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) primarily reflects academic achievement, research consistently shows that students who engage in a wide range of activities beyond the classroom are most likely to realise their full potential. The Class of 2024 exemplifies this holistic approach, achieving a median ATAR of 86.50. This places 50% of our Year 12 students within the top 13.50% nationally—a truly outstanding achievement. Five students who were included in the State’s top 100 results: Eliza Chapman, Bihandu De Silva, Xavier Nesbit, Nandun Peiris and Kulani Somarathna – an outstanding achievement for each.

More importantly, the College celebrates the diverse accomplishments of all Year 12 students in 2024. Their success across academics, sports, the arts, and other endeavours is a testament to their hard work, spirit, and commitment.

On behalf of the entire Scotch Oakburn community, I extend heartfelt thanks to the Class of 2024 for all they have contributed and achieved during their time with us. We are immensely proud of you and wish you every success in the future.
