Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award

The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award: A globally recognised program that encourages young people to challenge themselves and develop essential life skills. Bronze, Silver, and Gold awards can be achieved. Participants must complete activities in four sections: Service, Skill, Physical Recreation, and Adventurous Journey. Each section is designed to help students develop new skills, improve their physical fitness, and contribute to their community.

Captain

Captains at Scotch Oakburn College are student leaders appointed across a range of co-curricular domains, including Sport, Performing Arts, Boarding, Wellbeing, Futures, Media, and House leadership. These captains play a vital role in promoting participation, coordinating events, and representing their area of leadership within the College community. They work collaboratively with staff and peers to foster engagement, pride, and student voice, contributing to a vibrant and inclusive school culture. The role develops leadership, communication, and organisational skills while celebrating the diversity of student interests and talents.

Student Executive

The Student Executive at Scotch Oakburn College is the leading student leadership body, made up of Year 12 students who demonstrate initiative, integrity, and a commitment to the College community. Roles include College Captains, House Captains, Round Square Chairs, and portfolio leaders across areas such as student voice, media, sport, and service. Members are selected through a comprehensive application and interview process and are responsible for representing the student body, leading key initiatives, and modelling the College’s Values in everyday life.

The Seniors’ Committee at Scotch Oakburn College is a student leadership group made up of Year 12 students who take an active role in shaping the Senior School experience. Round Square Committee

Round Square Committee at Scotch Oakburn College is a student-led leadership group that drives the College’s engagement with the Round Square IDEALS: Internationalism, Democracy, Environmentalism, Adventure, Leadership, and Service. The committee plans and facilitates weekly sessions, guest speakers, cultural exchanges, and major events such as the Peace Festival and Baraza discussions. Members collaborate across year levels and with staff to promote global citizenship, student voice, and meaningful action within the College and beyond.
