This week saw the SATIS Athletics held in immaculate conditions at the Northern Athletics Centre, St Leonards. With the NSATIS athletics postponed until Monday 8 May, we headed into the SATIS carnival with the element of the unknown. With the number of students involved in athletics, it is our biggest College team we take to competitions each year and students were excited to get the opportunity to compete after the cancellation of the SATIS athletics in 2022. As a College, we can hold our heads high in knowing we filled every single event, with many competitors out due to injury and illness. I would like to praise the efforts of our reserves, Mackenzie Buck, Anna Day, Angus Scott, Freddie Saxton, Ava Corbould, Emily Knaggs and Nandun Harry Peiris. A number of these reserves also assisted in the College’s allocated events in Discus and Shot Put. We had eight students participate in over four individual events and I thank these students for their selfless attitude giving their all for the team.

Success at both NSATIS and SATIS carnivals isn’t decided by our standout performers, but rather by the students that push themselves at training to improve and make up five or six positions when competing. The atmosphere and support all our students gave each other was excellent to experience and I would like to congratulate our team captains Kate Atherton and Charlie Skipper for helping build a positive culture in the program. Thanks to athletics coaches AJ Creak, Kim Badcock and Cale O’Keefe for their assistance with students so far this season, along with our volunteers Hugh Baird, Orysia Petterwood, Tanya and Charles Beaumont and Gill Mau for assisting on both the Shot Put and Discus events.

Our SATIS event winners were as follows:
