JUNIOR FOUNDATION ORATORY 2026
The Junior Foundation Oratory 2026 was held on Thursday, 17 September, and provided a wonderful showcase of student public speaking talent.
This year, four students participated in the competition: Amelia Verbeeten (Year 9), Peggy Handbury (Year 9), Maddi Gofton (Year 9), and Zoe Diprose (Year 7). Drawing inspiration from the Round Square IDEALS. Each student delivered a clear and persuasive speech designed to engage both the intellect and emotions of the audience while encouraging meaningful action.
The competition was adjudicated by Mrs Carrie Dunham, assisted by Public Speaking Captains Calan Young (Year 12) and Meg Kilby (Year 12). The thoughtful feedback and encouragement were greatly appreciated by the students and the audience.
Congratulations to Peggy Handbury (Year 9), who was awarded the Junior Foundation Oratory Award for 2026 for the second consecutive year. Her speech, Our Perception of Time, impressed the adjudicators with its ability to communicate a complex concept in a clear, engaging, and accessible manner, demonstrating both maturity of thought and excellent public speaking skills.
