As students returned to Penquite for the start of Semester 2, there was a sense of excitement and optimism in the air. The energy at the beginning of our recent assembly was palpable as students reconnected with friends, teachers and the routines of College life after the holiday break. It provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the type of community we want to continue building together over the coming months.

In my address, I shared the story of Norway’s recent success in international football. After 28 years without qualifying for a major tournament, the Norwegian team captured the imagination […]

The cast is ready. The band is ready. The stage is set.

One of the things that makes school productions so special is that they only happen once. This is a very short season, and once it’s over, it’s over. There won’t be another opportunity to see this cast perform this production together.

So if you’ve been thinking about coming along, now is the time to secure your tickets. Bring your family, invite your friends, and help us celebrate the extraordinary work of our students and staff. Your […]

SELF-REGULATION AT ELPHIN

2026-08-07T10:11:56+10:007 August, 2026|Categories: 2026 Term 3 Week 2|

This Term, our whole of College Wellbeing focus is the Learner Attribute of Self-Regulation. Self-regulation is an important skill that helps children recognise, understand and manage their emotions, behaviours and attention so they can engage positively in learning, play and relationships.

Throughout the Term, students will be exploring two key “I Can” statements:

I can notice and name my feelings.
I can identify what I need to be ready to learn and play.

Developing self-regulation skills in the primary years provides children with a strong foundation for both academic success and social-emotional wellbeing. When students can recognise how they are […]

We warmly invite you to join us for our Annual Fathers’ Day Breakfast on Friday 4 September 2026.

Following positive feedback about how much our community value our Mother’s and Fathers’ Day events, we also heard a clear desire to increase capacity and make these occasions more inclusive. We listened and, through collaboration with staff and our community, have slightly refreshed this year’s format to create more space for everyone to attend, connect and enjoy time together. There is no limit on guest numbers, so families are warmly encouraged to invite all the […]

EXPLORING THE FOREST

2026-08-07T09:35:08+10:007 August, 2026|Categories: 2026 Term 3 Week 2|

Our Year 4 students recently enjoyed an engaging excursion to Hollybank Forest, facilitated by the Forest Education Foundation. The experience provided a valuable opportunity to connect classroom learning from our HASS and Science units completed last term, with further learning to continue in the early part of this term.

Guided by knowledgeable educators, students explored the diversity and connections of producers, consumers and decomposers within forest ecosystems, developing a deeper understanding of the role trees play in supporting life. They also searched for evidence of consumers living in the forest and […]

AI AND ACADEMIC INTEGRITY

2026-08-07T09:35:00+10:007 August, 2026|Categories: 2026 Term 3 Week 2|

AI presents tremendous opportunities for education, and as a College we are continually exploring how it can be used in the classroom to enhance, extend and engage in learning. However, the technology also presents significant challenges and one of these is the impact of generative AI on academic integrity (often termed AIgiarism), where work created by AI is presented as a student’s own.

In order to minimise the impact of AIgiarism, the College is implementing a number of measures, including clear communication of any permitted AI use as standard practice for all assessment […]

CHESS

2026-08-07T09:34:55+10:007 August, 2026|Categories: 2026 Term 3 Week 2|

Our students participated in the second interschool chess tournament of the year at Riverside High School in the last week of Term 2. It was a combined tournament of Primary and Secondary teams, with the College having 21 Primary participants (including 2 Year 6 students) and a reduced Secondary team of six students as Year 10 and TCE students were absent.

Our students performed superbly and showed grit, enthusiasm, and fair play all day.

Our Primary team finished third overall with Year 5 students Jason Wu and Charles Clifton scoring five wins out of six […]
